The films were modestly successful commercially but each sequel earned lesser than the previous one. Levy has been very clear that the third movie would be the last with the characters, as he believes there has been a shift in the family film genre. ‘Night at the Museum: Secret of The Tomb’ marked the third and apparently the final installment in the franchise. The first one, titled ‘Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian’, was released in 2009. The trilogy starts with ‘Night at the Museum’ in 2006, which was adapted from the children’s book of the same name by Milan Trenc. It also stars an ensemble cast featuring Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Ricky Gervais, Steve Coogan, Patrick Gallagher, Rami Malek, Mizuo Peck, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cobbs, and Dick Van Dyke. It stars Ben Stiller as Larry Daley, the night-guard at the American Museum of Natural History. The trilogy is directed by Shawn Levy, most known for ‘ Stranger Things‘, and written by Robert Garant and Thomas Lennon. ![]()
